Healthy Ohio Fitness Walk 12 p.m. at Buckeye Woods Park/Chippewa North Trail (meet in the parking lot near the shelter by the pond) or at 7 p.m. at Plum Creek Park South (meet in the South entrance parking lot) - The Medina County Park District would like to invite all community members to join us in Ohio’s fourth statewide “Healthy Ohio Fitness Walk”. The challenge to all Ohioans is to collectively walk one hundred thousand miles this day! The ultimate goal is to promote physical activity and educate all Ohioans about the importance of regular physical activity in improving overall health and wellness. Let’s do our part as a community and participate in a one-mile walk to help reach this goal! Creative Pottery Class - Wolf Creek Environmental Center - 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Have fun creating your own pieces of pottery. Using your own design, we will learn the basic pinch pot, coil and slab techniques and how to glaze your piece. We will complete at least two projects for you to take home. All materials are provided, but you may want to bring an old shirt to protect your clothes! For kids ages 8 to 12. There is a $27 fee for the entire program. Register by June 5. |

Passport to Fishing - Plum Creek Park South - 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Medina County Park District and the Ohio Division of Wildlife invite you to this summer’s new “Passport to Fishing” program. This program introduces children with little or no previous fishing experience to the sport of angling. By participating in the program, children have fun while learning some basic skills and needed techniques to begin fishing in their communities. The Passport Program includes strong stewardship messages as part of each learning activity. Parents are encouraged to accompany their children, but it is not required. Each day of the program will focus on a particular lesson, so we highly recommend that children attend all three days to get the most out of the program. Fishing poles and bait will be provided. Got an old cardboard box and some aluminum foil? We’ll show you how to make it into a fabulous outdoor oven. We will do some weird and wonderful things with buckets and salt. Come prepared to work and eat. Bring leather work gloves, wear clothes that won’t wilt in heat and smoke, wear a hat or scarf and bring something to tie back your long hair. We’re Girl Scouts trainers -- safety first! Our own Outdoor Gourmet Cookbook with tried and true recipes is included. For those with food issues: we will be cooking chicken and salmon. For ages 12 to adult (those ages 12 to 17 need to be accompanied by an adult). Register by August 21. The program fee is $8 per person. |

Many of these flowers including fall phlox, eupatorium, and great blue lobelia can be purchased at certain nurseries for planting at home. Please bring your wildflower guide. Ages 10 to adult.
